Meanwhile back at the ranch

US F1 may not amount to much so far, but the Canadians are all abuzz since Montreal got back on the calendar. One guy has even invented an F1 limousine to take you to the race in style. Shown here on the Bonneville Salt Flats, site of the future Salt Lake City F1 Grand Prix. Personally I’m not so sure about that last bit but the yanks are all over it. They claim it offers more overtaking opportunities than any other track in the world. Well, whatever.

But the F1 Limo is definitely the real McCoy, as they say over there. The thing can take six passengers at speeds up to 140mph. Stick your champaign bottle up in the air and it uncorks itself. Comes with cup holders too, or else it wouldn’t be street legal in the US.

The Americans are coming. Are they?

It seems the Americans are all abuzz over their new team. Expanding in Asia may be my favourite hobby horse but it’s true, if we really want to remain a global sports, sooner or later we’ll have to get the yanks back on board.

But it ain’t easy. I thought we were well on our way when we got the US F1 team in, but the only thing I’ve seen so far is a lot of PR and no wheels. Sort of like a mini General Motors if you ask me. Called their boss Peter Windsor today, wishing him Happy New Year and by the way, are you aware that to compete in F1 you need a car and some drivers?
